The middle east has this light no other places have.
It’s this indelible yellow that makes for harsh shadows in the day time and soft contrast at sunset.
A light that makes any photographer crazy confining them to be able to shoot only in certain hours of the day.
Never a cloud in the sky, never some rain, not even a drop.
Just Sun, sun, sun, light, light, light.
I used to sit in a dark room in my house in Nachlaot and try editing with this beam of light coming in from the window as if it was there to find a way to creep into my room and disturb me. I hated it. My skin was brown as chocolate and my hair dry and burnt.
The middle east has this light no other places have.
And I liked complaining about it when I was there because I did not remember how little light the winter months bring here in the “other side of the world” when seeing the sunlights sweeping through the window after a week or raining or snowing it’s like a miracle in itself.
The middle east has this light no other places have and I miss it now.
I would bathe in the dry warmth of a 7am run at 90 degrees and I would bask in the middle eastern sunshine until my bones are not hacking anymore.
I am coming back. Soon.
