The Mardi Gras Indians of New Orleans

I know I am a photographer, but this story is so much better told with a video. Pictures are pretty and all, but sometimes they can’t quit deliver the truest emotion one can experience with the combination of visual and sound. If I only took photos, you would never hear the beautiful tribal chants that accompany the Indians in their march.

I am sure there will be a sequel to this story when I will get back down here to New Orleans next year since I find this renegade culture to be fascinating and rich in historical context beyond the colorful feathers making the suits. But for now, I am off to New York City to live that ideal life I have been planning for year. Not sure what the future is going to bring me, but I guess I will find out soon enough.
